HISTORY
Sword of the Spirit Prevailing Ministries was established in 1994 by Pastor, Johnny & Isaistta Whitted acting in obedience to the call of God. In the words of Pastor Johnny, "God gave me a vision of the city of Wilmington NC, where the Word of God should be taught with clarity and understanding as the Holy Spirit is our teacher: without compromise; where the presence of God flows freely and where all believers can come together without respect of race, gender, economic or social background."
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Sword of the Spirit Prevailing Ministries
1. We believe Jesus is the Son of God and Savior of the World. He is the only Way to Salvation. (John 3:16, John 14:6)
2. We believe that all men are born sinners in need of a Savior. (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23)
3. We believe that everyone must accept Jesus for themselves, believing on Him and receiving Him in their hearts as Lord and Savior in order to be saved. (Romans 10:9-10).
4. We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. This gift is for today and is part of the life of the believer. (Acts 1:8, Acts 2:1-4, Mark 16:15-18)
5. We believe that praying in tongues is an important part of the life of the believer. (Jude 20, Romans 8:26-28)
6. We believe in the Gifts of the Spirit - Active today and in the church. (Mark 16:15-18, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11)
7. We believe in the "Five-fold Ministry". (Ephesians 4:11-12)
8. We believe in the ministry to the sick by the laying on of hands. We believe God still heals supernaturally today. (Mark 16:18, James 5:14-15)
VISION
Our Vision is to see all believers represent Christ, walk in Kingdom authority, build strong families, fulfill God's purpose and destiny, affecting impact and reform into their spheres of influence through signs, wonders and miracles.
Luke 4:16-21
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
